Welcome to the "Online Course Accessibility: Ensuring Equitable Learning Experiences" course! As technology continues to shape the education landscape, it is crucial for educators, instructional designers, and course developers to prioritize accessibility. This course aims to equip you with the knowledge, tools, and strategies necessary to make your online courses inclusive and provide equal opportunities for all learners. Throughout the course, we will explore various dimensions of online course accessibility and discuss practical techniques to implement accessibility standards.

This course is to utilize the LMS system Canvas.

Instructional Designer, Author, and Instructor

Sonja has a vast range of experience in various fields. Her expertise includes instructional design, training, and adjunct professorship, particularly emphasizing accessibility, diversity, equity, and belonging at Jackson College. She possesses skills in conflict resolution techniques and holds a Ph.D. in Education: Instructional Design and Technology, a Canvas Educator Certificate, a Trauma-Informed Expressive Artist, and a Certified Mediator through Southeastern Michigan Dispute Resolution Services. As the Executive Director of Tranquil Parenting, Sonja's research has gained recognition through presentations during Research Week at Liberty University and articles published in both Her and Michigan Parent. Her current Ph.D. research in education delves into the correlation between effective instructional design and technology and the successful outcomes of adult learners living with tension and complex PTSD. This research has resulted in development of the Transformative Mindset Instructional Design (TMID) model.
